instructional material for the banjo, mandolin, and guitar.
The cornerstones of Layne Publications are the songs from Jordan Layne Bourland's
Bluegrass Jam Camp. Building on the success of his book/CD set that he made available
for his students, he has continued to produce lessons in a similar style. Here you
will find accessible arrangements of traditional bluegrass favorites for the beginner
to intermediate student.
Upon purchasing a song from this area of Layne publications you will receive a TAB
(sometimes more than one depending on the song and instrument), chord chart, and
two mp3's recorded by Jordan. The first mp3 will be of an entire bluegrass band
(guitar, mandolin, banjo, and bass) with a note-for-note recording of the TAB that
you received, as well as solo's on the other instruments (useful for practicing
rhythm). The second mp3 will be the exact same recording without the recorded
solo for your instrument.
Jordan has labored over these arrangements to ensure that they are accessible, yet
challenging to the student. When using his original 10 songs with his students,
great progress was observed. It is the hope of Layne Publications that these new
additions to the Bluegrass Jam Camp library of songs will be equally effective.
